Your writing here reminds me of my favorite bit of dialogue from one of my all-time favorite classic films, “Now, Voyager” with Bette Davis and Paul Henreid. At the end of the movie Henreid’s characters remarks–after all the travails they had been through–about they’ll now be able to possess the moon as a symbol of the future they can now enjoy. To which, Bette Davis responds, “Why settle for the moon when we can have the stars!”
I love that context, Patrick. Everything takes on newer and deeper meaning after various travails…to settle is definitely not enough. The film seems familiar but now I need to revisit it. Hope you’re enjoying the holidays!
very solid advice, George!
groetjes, Francina
Glad you liked it, Francina!
Cheers, George
